Crystal Heart Earrings

Here Nisis helps me with my work!

Back in college (waaaaaaay back) I had a favorite pair of earrings that were essentially plastic hearts with black netting over them a la Madonna.  When it came time to make something for Valentine’s day they came instantly to mind.  I found a kit that had all the parts I needed and set to work.  As I become more experienced I will create the parts myself.

Here’s what the blank canvas looked like:

I didn’t immediately try to recreate my crystal earrings, first I linked them up to the HUD I use and tried on different colors and materials.  Since it had the most options and already had the metals in it I used the Celtie HUD as a base.

This of course prompted a trip to the marketplace and now I am the proud owner of multiple gemstone and metals textures which I tried in various combinations to come up with an earring that satisfied me.  After rejecting using a ruby as the heart shaped stone I settled on the white/clear crystal.

It still didn’t look like what I had envisioned and I decided this was because of the bow.  So I found another sculpty bow and changed it over.  A little manipulation and voila!

I didn’t have the colored gems around the plastic crystal heart in the real life version but I like them in this version.  The HUD got modified to change those into various colors and metals.  Oddly enough, when SL glitches, they look just like my RL earrings!

A Store is Born

Bedizen is back and better than ever!

A friend of mine challenged me to build a table.  Sounded simple enough.  Rez a few prims, manipulate them, texture them, line em up and voila! table!  It wasn’t that easy.  But in the process I caught the building bug and have been building ever since.  I learned how to use sculpties and wow what a great tool!  I  discovered mesh and fell in love.  I took classes at Builder’s Brewery and greatly appreciate what I learned there.    In the process of learning about sculpties I discovered a love of furniture and texture changing.  In the process of looking for better scripts and texture changers I fell in love with mesh and am learning how to do some intriguing things with it.  Granted, I’m a tool user, not creator, but I feel its only a matter of time before my creative needs outstrip the tools and materials available to me.

Thus Bedizen is reborn and gives birth to !b!     Look for sculpted low-prim furniture at Bedizen and look for shoes and hats and clothes at !b!  Find them both at my new main store in world at http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Business%20District%20Foxtrot/58/240/22 or on the marketplace at https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/23633
